Konecta officially certifies its carbon footprint calculation with the Ministry of Environment of the Province of Córdoba, Argentina

As part of its strong commitment to a more sustainable future, Konecta in Argentina has officially certified its organizational carbon footprint calculation. This certification was granted by the Carbon Footprint Registry of the Province of Córdoba, a public program led by the Secretariat for Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment and Circular Economy. This achievement not only recognizes Konecta’s strong environmental management, but also serves as a key tool for fostering a more conscious organizational culture aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This milestone is a powerful driver for continuing to promote concrete climate actions and for engaging the entire community in building a greener, fairer, and more resilient future.
The Carbon Footprint Registry of the Province of Córdoba promotes the measurement, reduction, and management of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in public and private organizations. This public program measures organizational emissions across the three scopes defined by the GHG Protocol:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions, such as fuel use in company-owned vehicles.
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions related to electricity consumption.
  • Scope 3 (optional): Indirect emissions from the value chain, including business travel, waste, and third-party transport.

By following ISO 14064-1 standards, the registry ensures traceability, technical rigor, and international comparability of the calculations. This is an essential step towards developing policies to mitigate and offset GHG emissions, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability and the protection of natural resources and biodiversity in the province.

Konecta and its carbon footprint reduction plan

Konecta in Argentina has been measuring the environmental impact of its operations since 2017. This ongoing monitoring has enabled the company to implement concrete measures to significantly mitigate and reduce its carbon footprint

Key initiatives include:

  • Reforestation program: more than 2,000 native trees planted in various regions of the country.
  • Recycling program: promotes consumption reduction, waste sorting at source, and circular economy practices, achieving the recycling of 3,370 kg of waste annually from its offices in Argentina.
  • Environmental volunteering program: over 160 trained volunteers engaged in actions such as reforestation and waste clean-up.
  • Sustainable purchasing program: prioritizes suppliers and products with lower environmental impact.
  • Commitment to sustainable mobility: successfully reduced the environmental impact of daily commutes, offsetting 12,313 kilometers since September 2024.

A firm commitment to sustainability

Thanks to its continuous carbon footprint monitoring, Konecta in Argentina has achieved a remarkable reduction in annual carbon dioxide emissions—from 7,800 to 1,790 tonnes. The official certification of this process by the Secretariat for Climate Change will strengthen the technical quality of the calculation and incorporate new elements into its environmental management efforts.
