Konecta has partnered with the NGO Pacto Contra a Fome (Pact Against Hunger) in its mission to combat food insecurity and waste in Brazil through technology and innovation. As part of the national campaign “Jogue Contra o Desperdício” (“Play Against Waste”), Konecta developed TIA Contra a Fome, a free artificial intelligence solution designed to help families reduce food waste and adopt more sustainable consumption habits.
Konecta's technology team created an intelligent agent powered by WhatsApp, the most widely used communication platform in Brazil. This AI-driven tool allows users to send photos or text messages to identify food items and receive practical recommendations on how to make the most of their ingredients. TIA also provides guidance on portion sizes, food storage, and creative recipes based on what users already have at home, transforming everyday cooking into an opportunity for sustainability.
The initiative was launched during Círio de Nazaré, one of Brazil’s most traditional celebrations, in a country where more than 64.5 million people live in situations of food insecurity while approximately 55 million tons of food are wasted each year.
The campaign has already achieved remarkable results, with over 10,000 interactions in its first few days of operation, and continues to drive engagement toward this important social goal.
This project highlights Konecta’s commitment to leveraging digital innovation for social impact. By applying its expertise in artificial intelligence and customer experience technologies, Konecta bridges the gap between technology and society, creating meaningful solutions that contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future.
